Hub lobes are machined and the urethane spider press-fit to a controlled interference, which absorbs shock, damps torsional vibration and keeps the coupling failsafe if the spider wears. Aluminum hubs are hard anodized after boring to H7 with clamp or key options.
Complete sets balance well above rated speed, and spare spiders ship color-coded by durometer so maintenance picks the right stiffness without re-alignment.
